Compression Molding
silicone mobile covers are using compression molding technology. High-quality solid silicone material is placed in a preheated mold. High temperature and high pressure force the material to flow and fill the mold. After cooling, the rubber phone cases are demolded. Specifically, the following steps are involved: material preparation, mold placement, pressing, vulcanization, and demolding.
The silicone raw material block is weighed and placed in a precision mold consisting of an upper and lower mold. A machine applies 10-20 MPa of pressure at a temperature of 170±5°C. After 3-10 minutes, the silicone material solidifies. Finally, the molded silicone phone cases are removed and the burrs are trimmed.
The compression molding process is suitable for producing complex three-dimensional structures. The button and camera holes in the finished apple silicone cases are consistent with the original drawing. Silicone phone cases produced using this process exhibit excellent elasticity and drop resistance, while also requiring less equipment cost than liquid silicone injection molding (LIM).
Surface Treatment Processes
Spraying a tactile feel: The most basic process for custom silicone cases, a thin layer of oil is applied to create a smooth, non-slip, and dust-resistant surface, making it more comfortable to the touch.
Spraying and Laser Engraving: First, a base coat is applied to the phone case surface, followed by laser engraving of a logo or pattern. Finally, a protective coating of tactile feel is applied. This process is suitable for custom designs.
Liquid Silicone Dispensing: A colored liquid glue is applied to the liquid silicone cases to create a raised 3D pattern, giving the case a more three-dimensional and aesthetically pleasing look. This is often used for cute or customized phone cases.
Color Printing: A full-color pattern is printed on the entire surface of the silicone back covers using printing technology. The result is vibrant colors and a delicate feel, making it ideal for complex images.
UV Treatment: Ultraviolet light is used to modify the surface of the phone case, creating a hard protective layer that is anti-static, dust-resistant, and environmentally friendly, but also slightly more expensive.
